Who are we?
This privacy policy is for Magna Solicitors & Notaries and governs the privacy of it's users.
The policy sets out the different areas where user privacy is concerned and outlines the obligations & requirements of the users and the Business.
What Information do we collect about you?
We collect information about you when you provide us with instructions in relation to a legal matter. We collect only such information as is required for the lawful purpose of completing our instructions from you and for providing any ongoing support that you agree with us.
Your personal information is held in a secure database. You can contact us at any time to delete your account or data held by us, about you using the contact details provided below, otherwise your data will be automatically deleted after six years.
We are required by the Law Society to retain files for six years and can only delete them prior to this if you specifically request us to in writing.
We use your information for preparing and presenting your matter as needed. Our processing is permitted by applicable privacy laws and in all instances the processing of your personal data is based on the legal basis of contract (our contractual obligation to provide you with legal services).
We also collect information when you voluntarily complete customer surveys and provide feedback.
How will we use the information about you?
We collect information about you to process your legal matter and to provide the service we are contracted to.
We disclose information to courts, other legal representatives and government agencies as required for the legitimate purpose of providing you with legal services and protecting your legal interest. We are bound by professional confidentiality and will only disclose information without your consent when required by the law and as permitted by the Solicitors Code of Conduct.
We will never contact you with special offers and marketing materials about the services we offer. We may however use your email address to stay in touch- for example to notify you as to change in contact details.
Your details are not passed on to any third parties for marketing or any other purpose save as set out above.
As a responsible company, we do not use any automatic decision-making or profiling with your data.
Access to your information and correction:
You have a right to data confirmation and rectification. If you wish to correct any data we may hold on you then, at any time, you may contact one of our employees. You have the right to request a copy of the information that we hold about you, this is also known as a Subject Access Rights. If you would like a copy of some or all of your personal information, please email or write to us at the address given below. We want to make sure that your personal information is accurate and up to date. You may ask us to correct or remove information you think is inaccurate or to delete all data held about you. You also have the right to withdraw your consent, opt-out of receiving future marketing and in some circumstances, you have the right to have your information transferred to you or a third party and the right to object to profiling and automated decision making. If you feel your data has been mishandled or misused you have the right to complain to the ICO (www.ico.org.uk)
